Summary of the plot of book Macbeth:

Macbeth, the play first takes us to witness the trio of wicked hags (three sister witches) and their unique language. This is a notable point in the play, as the author uses the language of that era. The witches choose Macbeth as their target to start their mischief. They manipulate him, feeding him with ambition through their wicked prophecies for future fame.

Macbeth falls prey to their schemes, becoming blinded by ambition and unable to make sound decisions. His wife, Lady Macbeth, is not just a supportive spouse but a more driven figure who fuels Macbeth’s ill intentions. She persuades him to murder King Duncan and seize the throne.

The compassion Macbeth once had for his family leads to his downfall. The kingdom mourns the loss of the honorable king. Macbeth achieves his so-called goals through unhealthy means. But will his ill-gotten gains last? Shortcuts to power often lead to downfall.

Macbeth invites his own rivals by betraying his friendships and becoming inhumane for the sake of power. His friend Banquo, initially pleased by Macbeth’s success, becomes suspicious and is ultimately murdered by Macbeth’s orders.

Macbeth accumulates sins as he tries to wash away his first crime. His peace of mind is shattered by nightmares. Whether crimes are committed openly or behind the scenes, they are still crimes. Life returns what one gives; the treatment you show others is what you will receive.

Suspicion grows after the banquet scene. Macbeth clings to the witches’ prophecies, which act as a double-edged sword. Macduff convinces Malcolm, Duncan’s son, to battle Macbeth. Macbeth, in turn, kills Macduff’s family, suspecting them of plotting against him.

Lady Macbeth, tormented by guilt, suffers from sleepwalking and eventually loses her sanity, leading to her suicide. Macbeth, shocked by this news, no longer desires to live but is desperate to either win the battle or die. The witches’ prophecies, though seemingly his strength, only told half-truths. Ultimately, Malcolm beheads Macbeth, although Malcolm feels pity for him.
